About Sprints
Sprints was announced in July 2025 as the first and only metabolic-fertility program to reduce high-risk pregnancies and improve outcomes. It's a native application for iOS and Android devices built with Expo and React Native. It was released in general availability on iOS and Android application stores in November 2025.
Building cross-platform, native personalized experiences
Sprints is a cross-platform app but still uses native frameworks like HealthKit and Health Connect to personalize features for users, aiming to provide a best-in-class native experience without the usual cross-platform compromise. My involvement with the project has been across key native experiences:
Rewrite push notifications implementation
Expand push notifications for new growth and retention initiatives
Rewrite HealthKit/Health Connect implementation
In pursuing each initiative, I aimed to do so in ways that unlocked more value while improving maintainability. For example, when we rewrote the existing fragmented health feature, which was bifurcated across iOS and Android, we not only got a centralized health service that abstracted much of the implementation but we were able to launch new features like reading State of Mind on iOS.
