Lively Video

Lively Video is an Austin-based live video technology company that offers a B2B suite of libraries and tools to accelerate development of software that leverages live video (i.e. facilitating remote learning during COVID).

Building for developers

I joined a team that makes a library called "Video Client", as tech lead. Video Client can be used as a React component library or pure JS utility to create live video applications. One important customer was a sister company called Chalkcast, whom we worked closely with day-to-day as we developed Video Client to dogfood and improve the library. Chalkcast developed a product that allowed teachers to engage students with live video and a set of education tools to enable distance learning. By dogfooding with them for a few months, we built a library that scaled to over 6 applications at various companies.

Some key wins I drove most heavily were implementing a full Storybook-based workflow, converting a large portion of the codebase to TypeScript, and driving successful client implementations.
